Environmental Site Assessment- (Phase I)

The objectives of an Environmental Site Assessment (Phase I) are:
• To identify potential environmental liabilities at a site, and
• To meet the scope and limitations of the American Standard for Testing and Materials (ASTM) E-1527-2013 and All Applicable Inquiries (AAI) guidelines.

The standard Environmental Site Assessment consists of the following nine major elements:

1- Site Reconnaissance
2- Federal, State, and Local Agency Record Review
3- Historical Aerial Photography Review
4- Historical Topographic Map Review
5- Historical SanbornTM Map Review
6- Historical City Directory Review
7- Land Use Review
8- Geology and Hydrogeology Setting
9- Report

 

Historical Aerial Photography Review

Historical aerial photograph reviews are used to attempt to fill in the gaps in documented property use when it may have been undeveloped. ARA Environmental Services will review readily available aerial photographs of the site and its surroundings dating back to 1920s.

Historical Topographic Map Review

Historical topographic map reviews are used to attempt to fill in the gaps in documented property use when it may have been undeveloped. ARA Environmental Services will review readily available topographic maps of the site and its surroundings.

Historical City Directories Review

Historical city directories reviews are used to attempt to fill in the gaps in documented property use when it may have been undeveloped. ARA Environmental Services will review readily available city directories of the site and its surroundings.

Historical SanbornTM Map Review

Historical SanbornTM map (if available) reviews are used to attempt to fill in the gaps in documented property use when it may have been undeveloped. ARA Environmental Services will review readily available SanbornTM map of the site and its surroundings.

Geology and Hydrogeology Setting

The geology and hydrogeology research is intended to give a feel of the environmental condition of the groundwater and soil conditions in the local area. ARA Environmental Services will conduct a geology and hydrogeology literature search to develop an overview of regional geologic and groundwater conditions.
